3 Ways Mindset Helps Productivity

I’m often asked, “Why does my mindset matter when I just want to focus, prioritize and get my to-do list done? Can’t you just give me some tools or apps so I can move on?”

Yes, I can dole out recommendations for planners, apps and software all day. However, if you aren’t understanding what is keeping you from using those tools, which tools are actually right for you and how to use them to your advantage then you will still be running around in circles.

Here are 3 ways mindset is important to productivity

The tools are a distraction – There is no one magic tool that is going to make you more productive. People are productive using a number of different types of systems, tools, and apps. You can waste a lot of time trying to find the perfect tool, which distracts you from your real objectives. You should be trying to find the tools that work for you. By understanding how you work best you can find the tools that will work for you and not waste your time.

Your thoughts can hold you back – Yes, you need the tools, but if you continue to let yourself fear promoting yourself, believe that you are a ‘hot mess’, think that wearing yourself out is just the way it is, and those million other thoughts that run through your head on a daily basis, no tool will help you. You need to learn to think differently about productivity, obstacles and that you can move through these thoughts that are holding you back.

Your mindset directs where you are going – Whether you are trying to be more productive, lose weight, or get new clients the way you think about what you want is going to direct your actions. I’m not suggesting that simply thinking about being productive will make you productive, you have to act too. Focusing your mindset on being productive will give you a head start in achieving that productivity.

You can have all the productivity and time management tools in the world, but if you aren’t ready to use them they won’t help you. You need to set your mindset to productive to effectively use those tools.
